What We Are Reading: September 2017

What are you reading in September 2017?

As you can imagine with three separate BookShark levels we do a lot of reading in our home. Not only do I love reading, but I enjoy hearing what others are reading and getting book recommendations. In my video below you can see exactly what books we are reading in September 2017 with our curriculum, plus a few personal selections. We have a bit to go before we finish all of our books, but it has been a great reading month for the Raiche clan.

Do you want to purchase some of these books for your home library?

I have linked all of the books we are reading in September 2017 below.

Inside Look: Curriculum

Want an inside look at our curriculum selections?

Before I purchase any curriculum I do tons of research... Part of that research consists of watching videos with sneak peaks inside the books. Today I am doing my version of an Inside Look: Curriculum. I already shared our Level 3, Level 7, and Level 100 BookShark materials with you, but I am just getting around to sharing our Timberdoodle and Amazon purchases. Check out my video below to see Kenten's science and our STEM.

Would you like to purchase these products for your homeschool?

I have linked to all the products I shared today. Simply click the product you are interested in below to be redirected to Amazon.

BookShark’s Level 100 Package

Want a peak at what is included in BookShark’s Level 100 Package?

Today I am sharing a video walk-through of BookShark’s Level 100 American History & Literature kit. We are so excited to be using BookShark  for the very first time this year. Although we started school a few weeks ago we were waiting for Kenten’s science materials to arrive before starting any of our new curriculum. Thankfully the last of our core materials are here, so we can finally dig into all these amazing books from BookShark.

Check out my video…

A special thank you to my hubby for picking up lights, and helping me set up my “studio” every time I want to shoot a new video. It is a work in progress, but I think we are getting better at this whole YouTube thing.

Sidenote… I promise I know how to pronounce “Sacajawea” (bahahaha)! As you can tell I obviously didn’t realize I mispronounced it while recording. Immediately after this video I got to work putting together my Instructor’s Guide Binder, so I couldn’t redo the video and still show the items individually.

That’s it… Thank you for watching!

BookShark’s Level 7 Package

Want a peak at what BookShark’s Level 7 Full Grade Package looks like?

Today I am sharing a video walk-through of all the amazing materials included in BookShark’s Level 7 kit! This is our first year using BookShark and I am just blown away by all the great books included in their packages. I absolutely cannot wait to get started next week… Is it Monday yet?

Check out my video….

Ryan picked up some new lights for me this week, so hopefully you can see everything a little better this time around. Although I already said it in my video, I want to say thank you again to BookShark. This past week had a lot of hiccups along the way, but all the social media love I received from BookShark really made up for some of the not so good things.

Another video in the books…

First Time for Everything

The old saying goes “There’s a first time for everything”…

That is proving true for me this week. I finally worked up the courage to shoot my very first YouTube video! If you follow me on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter you know we had our first Bookshark box day. I am 5’4″ and this mountain of boxes is almost as tall as me!

My children were a little overwhelmed, but this mama was dancing for joy when the FedEx truck pulled up and started carrying box after box to our door! Want to see what’s in one of those boxes? Check out my video below. I am starting with my 5th Grader’s 2017-2018 Bookshark Level 3 Full Grade Package.

1…2…3…Action!

As you can probably tell, I was supppppper NERVOUS! I need to work on the lighting a bit too. Since our school room is in the basement we do not get the best natural light, and when I tried to film upstairs there was a terrible echo due to really high ceilings.

Phew! That’s it… I did it!

If you made it through that lengthy video, thank you for sticking around! Don’t want to miss my future YouTube videos? Visit my channel and hit subscribe.

As you can tell that is a HUGE curriculum haul. I did a blog post a few weeks back with all the details. You can read all about Jack’s 5th Grade curriculum here. Do you have a YouTube channel? I would love to see what all of you are up to! Comment below with your link.
