Welcome to Tea Time Tuesday... End of Summer Edition!
Although there are still a few weeks before summer is officially over it truly feels like the end of summer to us... In a few days we will be starting the new school year, the weather has changed, and some of our trees have already lost their leaves. It has been a strange summer to say the least, but we are excited for all the fun things that fall brings.
End of Summer by Stanley Kunitz
An agitation of the air,A perturbation of the lightAdmonished me the unloved yearWould turn on its hinge that night.I stood in the disenchanted fieldAmid the stubble and the stones,Amazed, while a small worm lisped to meThe song of my marrow-bones.Blue poured into summer blue,A hawk broke from his cloudless tower,The roof of the silo blazed, and I knewThat part of my life was over.Already the iron door of the northClangs open: birds, leaves, snowsOrder their populations forth,And a cruel wind blows.
This week we are switching things up a bit- My children are going to take turns selecting and making the recipes for Tea Time Tuesdays. Miss Julia is up first and she chose M&M Cookies. To make your own M&M Cookies you will need:
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1 cup shortening
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups M&M's
You can find the instructions here. It has been ages since we had these cookies. I forgot how yummy they are!
